Film Opening - Love Actually

The clip begins with a tracking shot of a young woman going to greet a young man, in what appears to be an airpot. This shot fades in, which looks effective for the type of shot that appears folowing the fade in. At 0:03, 'Universal Pictures and Studiocanal Present' fades onto the screen in a white coloured font, and then  at 0:06, the writing fades out again. At 0:07, 'A Working Title Production' fades onto the screen, in the same font as the previous titles. Once again, this fades out at 0:10, and then at 0:11, 'In Association with DNA Films' fades in, and then fades out at 0:13. A straight cut is then used to transition to another tracking shot of what appears to be a mother greeting her children, which as an audience makes us think that this may be a montage. At 0:19, a straight cut is used to cut to a shot of another greeting between 2 elderly people, and then again at 0:23. Also at 0:23, a voice over begins, which is a common feature of a film opening. The voice over begins with 'Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport.' The montage continues as we see more and more shots of people greeting each other, and due to the voice over, we know thatr this is the 'arrivals gate at Heathrow Airpot'. As the montage continues, so does the voice over as it says 'General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there – fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge – they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that..'. At this point, words begin to come on to screen as the voice over says 'love actually is all around us.' The font is different to that from earlier, but it it still all white, apart from the word 'is'. Then, at 1:08 when the voiceover has finished, the words 'is all around' fade from the screen, and the words 'love actually' increase in size, whilst the word 'love' turns red, due to the fact that red tends to have the connotations of love.
